 Hall Pass

MHS administration has enforced a hall pass rule for safety and efficiency, effective in the 2017-2018 school year.

“I think that we really didn’t know exactly how severe the need was to have hall passes,” Chad Bentley, assistant principal, said. “I think that it had just been done a certain way for so long it just kind of went unaddressed.”

After discussing the issue with some MHS staff, Bentley said he realized what needed to be done.

“We just needed to get something going to make sure that we knew where students were at all times,” Bentley said.

He said that the administration has also been more diligent about locking and monitoring the doors with outside access.

“I think it’s a good idea in case something actually does happen and somebody actually does somehow get into the school,” Rebecca Brown, junior, said. “They can’t just easily walk through the door.”

Limiting the number of students in the halls during classes lowers the number of students potentially at risk if something were to happen, Bentley said.
